Ok, so while we said it was possible, we didn’t say it was going to be easy. Nevertheless, MacPCWiz applauds the determination of these innovative people who will take the Apple iPad where it hasn’t gone before — external hard drive support. With a jailbroken iPad (via Spirit jailbreak), an iPad Camera Connection Kit (also a mod) with a split USB cord, a Mac computer system, some SSH knowledge (we told you it wasn’t easy) — and you have an iPad with portable USB hard disk support. And while it is possible, looking from the whole machination, very few of us would want something so unwieldy. But it does prove something: the iPad can support USB portable hard drives, if only Apple would let it. Sad isn’t it?
And don’t get me started on blu-ray burners for MacBook Pro’s. Ole Steve Jobs just isn’t seeing the magic of a 25GB BD-R disc for storage. We wonder why.
