This would probably make a case for those people who want to back-up exclusively to Blu-Ray discs. Some people, as of the moment, are still hampered by the 25GB (single layer) and 50GB (dual layer) limits. With this new development, soon we will be seeing 75GB and 100GB burns on BD-Rs and BD-REs.
While this might be a boon to PC users, the only current effect this will have on the Mac world is if a user has purchased an external Blu-Ray burner for Macbook. Rumors circulating about the impending Snow Leopard release are pretty positive about Blu-Ray integration, so even if you are a Mac user, this seems to be good news all around.
