Sony phasing out the 120 and 250GB PS3?

Console gaming — heck, technology in general — is anything but stagnant. It is an industry in a constant state of flux. And so we are not surprised that with the new models of Sony‘s flagship game console the PlayStation 3 (PS3) ready to ship very soon, that they seem ready to phase out these lower hard drive space models. Engadget says:

From a supply chain management standpoint, this all makes sense — why have four separate PS3 SKUs with various HDD sizes when just a pair will do? After announcing last week that a 160GB and 320GB PS3 Slim would be making landfall in the US and Europe, it seems as if Sony has decided to phase out the existing 120GB and 250GB flavors. There’s no definitive word on when production on those will stop (we’re surmising that the stop order has already been placed), but it looks as if some retailers are already starting up fire sales on the now-old models.

250GB PS3 models going out for cheap

It looks like these old ones are going out for very cheap. But take note, these 250GB ones are priced at around the same price a PS3 slim 160GB would be when it releases. Hmm, decisions decisions. If you ask us, a PS3 slim would be cool — blu-ray disc capable, same features, but aesthetically kick-butt. Just attenuate the lack of hard drive space with an external hard drive, specifically a  DIGISTOR 500GB PS3 hard drive and you’re good to go. How can you say no to one of these babies?

Wow! Is this true? 160GB and 320GB PS3 Slim going to release! If it’s true, I’ll change my current Xbox to this new PSP. My own experience, I prefer PSP games because I find that the graphic of the games is realistic and challenge. Well, hope the new 320GB psp slim will release in my country soon. Hope you will update us when this new PSP release.
