We have the DIGISTOR Self-Powered USB Blu-Ray burner already, and we really like it. So we decided to get ourselves the DVD burner version of the product — the DIGISTOR Self-Powered external DVD burner. We’re gonna be showing you the unboxing of the said product right now, and we’re excited.
The DIGISTOR Self-Powered USB DVD burner is sleek and slim in design, and it’s perfect for netbooks and laptops, for carrying on long trips when you want to enjoy your DVD movies — since it’s truly USB powered, no need for a power cord. Netbooks are the “in thing” these days, despite reports of the platform’s inferior durability. If you have a netbook and want to add DVD burning and reading capability to it, this DIGISTOR USB DVD burner would seem to be the right choice. So here we go with the unboxing.
The box was unremarkable. We opened it up to see what was inside.

Inside the box was:
- 1 DIGISTOR Quick Start Guide
- 1 DIGISTOR Self-Powered DVD Burner
- 1 USB cable (Mini-USB to USB)
Nothing really spectacular about the contents, although you really notice the slim and portable design of these DIGISTOR drives right off the bat. Also notable is the lack of OEM-bundled software. You’re going to have to provide your own software for DVD playback and burning. (We’re going to review and test it out with software in a following post – MacPCWiz)

This drive is really perfect for netbook and laptop users, with it’s sleek design. I’m planning to give this USB DVD drive a go with my new Lenovo netbook, bring it along and watch some DVD movies on it. It’s very portable, and the lack of an AC power cord adds to the portability. We’re very happy with the drive. Performance and software specific reviews to follow.

PS:
As we mentioned they also have a USB Blu-Ray Burner, check out the DIGISTOR extrenal Blu-Ray Burner here.
