We included this latest tidbit on DIGISTOR in our weekly MacPCWiz Gadget Update, but we’d like to make it official. We supported DIGISTOR for their very nice USB DVD drives and external Blu-ray burners. We’re glad to say that they now have included in their product line equally nice external hard drives for all of you tech junkies who live life “on-the-go” and work in a “mobile office” . Whether you use a PC or a Mac, there’s one for you here.
Available in multiple capacities from 120GB to 500GB, DIGISTOR’s portable hard drives are bus-powered via USB 2.0 or optional 1394a or 1394b connectivity. DIGISTOR’s portable drives weigh in at only 4 ounces and feature plug-n-play compatibility with laptops and notebooks for secure data storage and archiving on the go.
“Small enough to fit in a shirt pocket, DIGISTOR’s portable hard drives are an ideal solution for creative professionals and consumers on the go”, said Brian Friss, Director of Business Development for DIGISTOR. “With this addition to the DIGISTOR line, we now offer a complete solution allowing our customers to preserve data both for back up and long-term archiving”
From what we could surmise from their new product pages for portable hard drives here, there are a number of options available. Firstly, we like having the option of getting them in Windows or Mac (Journaled) format. It makes it so much easier for Mac users to not have to format it before using — Mac OS X plug-and-play compatibility is guaranteed. Also for Mac users, you have choice between USB 2.0-only model, or a multi-interface one that has FireWire 400/800 capability. PC-formatted models come in USB 2.0 models only. Capacities available are 120GB, 250GB, 320GB, and 500GB.
DIGISTOR portable hard drives are available beginning January 12, 2010 from select dealers and online at www.digistor.com. MSRP starts at $73.50 and DIGISTOR offers a limited 3-year warranty on all portable hard drives.
