Xbox 360 gets a 250GB external hard drive

Ok, MacPCWiz people don’t Xbox that much. But for those of you who do, this might be a bit of good news for you — especially with all those software, TV shows, games and other stuff that you download off the Xbox Live community market. Good thing Microsoft realized the need for a 250GB bump in your Xbox external hard drive accessory. Seen at Engadget.com:

On March 11th, Microsoft will kick out its 250GB external hard drive to the good people of Japan; notable, as the first time that this 250GB drive has been sold anywhere outside of a new console bundle. The slab of external magnetic storage is set to cost ¥15,540 or about $172 should it ever ship Stateside. Unfortunately, Microsoft isn’t revealing its plans for that at the moment…

The new Xbox 360 250GB external hard drive accessory

This is the first time an accessory like this for the Xbox will be sold separately — they only came with software bundles in the US. But external storage is always important when you have data to secure. Netbooks can have all the portable hard drives they want, so why can’t a download-centric device like the Xbox have one as well? This will be available in Japan only, at the moment, but will probably cross the Pacific soon.

Good on you Microsoft.
