Oooh, what have we here? Just a little later after a September 1 Apple “special event” is announced (we learned via Engadget, as always), we also discover some of these leaks.

Apple will hold a "special event" on September 1
Leak number 1
Early July, Taiwanese site Apple.pro posted up some shots of appears to be a tiny Apple-labeled touchscreen panel — it measures just 3cm (1.18 inches) square. Take a look.

What does this look like to you?
It’s a touchscreen panel, and we feel this might lead up to a new touchscreen model iPod Shuffle. Well, wouldn’t that be just great? Another iPod gadget to burn our money on. Darn you, Steve Jobs!!!!

Leak number 2
Earlier today, a Taiwanese retailer called X-Doria put these pictures up on the net.

Look at these curious iPod cases. Hmmm.
Take a gander at these. The top pair maybe confirms our initial assumption — a touchscreen iPod Shuffle might well be on the way. The bottom pair is for a touchscreen device similar to the iPod Touch, but lo and behold, there is a space on the casing for what seems to be a camera mechanism. The 4th gen iPod Touch might just have camera functionality.
This seems bad news for our pockets again, and Apple has deviously timed it for the upcoming holidays — we wouldn’t expect any less of them anyways. Shutterbugs and trigger-happy iPod Touch users may now enjoy doing more things with their iPods — although we still don’t know the capabilities of the camera they might put into it. We fancy an HD capable camera on it — which would mean delicious photos and video on their new iPods. This might necessitate a call for more Mac storage on their systems, like this Mac-compatible 500GB Firewire portable hard disk from DIGISTOR, or burn the HD content to blu-ray discs using the Mac-compatible USB Blu-ray burner.
