New iMac line is ready - Apple

As the rumor mill goes, a lot has been heard about the new iMac consumer line of desktops from the Apple mothership. Touted to be on the shelves and ready for the holiday season, there are a lot of anticipated new features on the new iMac since the last refresh (March 2009). AppleInsider reports:

In addition to more affordable pricing, the systems are expected to come clad in a thinner industrial design, one of those people added. Though details are admittedly limited, it’s likely these new enclosures will also take design cues from the Cupertino-based company’s relatively new LED-lit Cinema Display offerings.

The one question that we have tossed around ad nauseam here in this part of the blogosphere is one of the keys for this version of the iMac, methinks: Will it or will it not include a Blu-Ray drive on it?

AppleInsider is not heavily positive on this, although most people are starting to think that it might be a possibility.  In this case, we might be seeing Steve Jobs’ “bag of hurt” on Apple’s desktops before they start rolling out Blu-Ray drives for Macbooks, given the fact that these iMacs will be on the shelves anytime this 4th quarter of 2009. We play the waiting game once more.
