Yes, that dreaded iPod newsletter showed up in my inbox again today, giving me a quick look at the newly refreshed iPod Touch. Somehow I couldn’t get myself to unsubscribe from the newsletter. As with other things, if Apple tempts me with beauties like these, I probably won’t mind looking, at the very least. Here, I share the temptation with all of you, look with me.
What’s Hot?
Gads, that looks pretty. So what’s hot with the new Touch? Well, first and foremost, it’s the same great Music player we all have grown to love — it’s just a great freaking iPod. It comes in 32 and 64GB models — up to 14,000 songs, 30-plus hours of
audio playback, what more could you ask for? Flick through your albums, literally with your fingers through CoverFlow. Genius Mixes — for people who still believe that iPods are psychic and know just what to play. Music videos, full-length movies… we bet that’s more iPod than anyone can handle.
Shake to Shuffle
So, bored with the current tune? Shake things up a bit. No, really. Turn on the “Shake to Shuffle” feature — the next time you have just a little too much Barry Manilow, give your Touch a little shake to shuffle to a different tune in your library. Maybe it will give you Air Supply, instead. You never know. Now that’s what I call intuitive.
Bluetooth
“Look, mom – no cords!” The new Touch carries with it iPhone genes — specifically, iPhone 3.1 software. Pair it up with your Bluetooth headphones. Your Touch could be sitting at your desk charging, and you could be moving around the office STILL listening to your tunes. Don’t look at us — we’re as amazed as you are. If this Touch could cook…
Voice Control
Voice Control – introduced on the new Nano – is now on the new 32GB and 64GB iPod Touch as well. This gives you the ability to control music playback with spoken commands. Yes, REALLY.
You say it — the Touch plays it. And shuffles it, pauses it, or names it. The iPod Touch comes with Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic. To activate Voice Control using the headphones, just press and hold the centre area of the remote.
Say and Play
Voice Control is connected to the music database in the Touch. If you want to hear something specific, all you have to do is ask, literally. Say “Play artist Britney Spears,” and the Touch does just that (although we really don’t know why you’d ask such a thing). Ask what song is playing and hear your iPod answer. That goes for playing your favorite album, artist, or playlist as well. Too lazy to hold your iPod or even just shake it? Speak simple commands such as “shuffle,” “next song,” and “pause.” Laziness rules.
Video
Store up to 80 hours of video and get up to 6 hours of video playback time on the new iPod touch. You widescreen much? Touch got you covered, baby. Onscreen controls for everything, of course. Wouldn’t be an iPod Touch if you don’t have that.
Recommendation
MacPCWiz recommends that you get one of these — doesn’t matter if you have to starve yourself for a week, OR beg your Mom, Dad, girlfriend, Uncle, neighbor, postman to get you one — IT DOESN’T MATTER. You go get this new iPod Touch. Now.

Hey, I got this update on my Touch, and I wanted to try the shake to shuffle, so i turned it on. I can’t get it to work! Do I need to have a song playing, then shake it? Do I need to be on a certain page for it to work? I don’t know. Help me out will ya?
Thanks
Yes, you need to have a song playing. Trick about is, you need to shake it from side to side, not diagonally or in any other direction — since this feature is activated via a gyro.
Hope you enjoy your Touch.
