Plextor jumps into the world of 12x Blu-Ray burning with its new PX-B940SA 12x Blu-ray Writer. We reported recently on the first deployment of Pioneer in 12x blu-ray burning here. Plextor comes next with an internal blu-ray drive that through the SATA interface brings us 12x single-layer and dual-layer blu-ray burning goodness on all Blu-ray discs. The PX-B940SA not only uses the latest Blu-ray technology, but also a dual-layer DVD-ROM that combines multiple formats – DVD R/RW and RAM – into one. It accepts disk of 8cm and 12cm (in horizontal position) and has an 8MB buffer, to ensure continuity of data.
The write speeds: 12X BD-R DL/SL, 2x BD-RE, 16x DVD+R/-R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD+/-R DL, 5x DVD-RAM 40x CD-R and 24x CD-RW.
