I was reading Lifehacker.com, they have this article about de-cluttering your office work space and there was a line there about an external DVD burner. But before I get to that, let me mention this as an idea of note: ever since Oprah introduced the term to the world, “de-clutter” has created a mini-revolution of sorts for work-oriented people — not just office people, but small business people who have home offices as well.
This particular line intrigued me:
During my last major office cleaning session I used the questions above to guide my cleaning session instead of merely putting things away. I found that I had an external DVD burner that was large, required external power, and wasn’t as fast and effective as the one in my tower. At some point I’d upgraded the DVD drive in the tower but never bothered to look around and remove the redundant and inefficient clutter from an earlier version of my office.

A big clunky external DVD writer, with all its accompanying cords (power cords and interface cords — USB, Firewire, etc.), is enough to give you a mild de-cluttering crisis. I believe giving up on an external DVD burner may not be entirely the solution.
Enter the DIGISTOR Self-Powered external DVD burner. DIGISTOR has employed into this drive a nifty self-powering solution so that the drive itself — already slim and very sleek-looking — does not need a power cord for its use. Read more about the specifics of DIGISTOR’s Self Powered external optical drive technology here.
I did not get into the full details, but suffice it to say, technology is far along in the external DVD burner industry that you don’t have to chuck the idea of having one because it clutters your workspace — technology does the job for you. Aside from having a space-saving, uncomplicated dedicated burner for your desktop system, these sleek drives are portable enough to carry along as external DVD drives for laptops and netbooks as well.
As a matter of fact, DIGISTOR has a full complement of self-powered external optical drives for your needs.

this USB DVD burner is perfect for my MacBook Pro‘s busted DVD burner, for reasons unknown the superdrive just stopped working and there is no fix from Apple. System Profiler reports the drive as good but it spews out any CD or DVD that I feed to it. Even Apple’s own forums is inundated with similar complaints but no fix has been made available yet.
